The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks ... It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.

  - Samuel Adams

To what extent will we defend that we believe? Samuel Adams was one of the chief choreographers of American rebellion against the Great Britain; it was his belief in the liberation and freedom of the American colony that drove him to the fight and defense of his country. This is also what the new and the first African-American president of the United States, Barack Obama elected in the 21st century, called for. Neither will he have America stolen from him by either financial crisis or any political practice against democracy, but he calls  for the defense of this country by appealing to an acknowledgement of these forefathers' philosophy and efforts. Nothing comes free under the sun; all has its costs to pay.
